Where do you find the still, small voice?
It was a 4 30 start this morning as we travelled to Manchester for its University’s Open Day. 5 hours and 200 miles later we arrived.
We were a little late though we walked unabashed into the taster Philosophy lecture. He kept mentioning architecture and that feeling came over us that we were in the wrong place. With a touch of self-hypnosis I said after 3 we all get up and go, 1 ,2, 3 I am up and walking out the door when I hear the lecturer say, “And some people leave” I kept walking.
We found the right lecture and enjoyed it, philosophy appeals to me though of course, I am not here for me. The experience does make me think maybe there has been some rub off on Cee with all my thoughts.
It was almost straight into a physics lecture which could have been a Ted Talk. I am not into physics though the professor combined with the setting made it most entertaining.
I have been encouraging Cee to visit the local City or town centres of the Universities she visits today she acted on my advice.
It is the political party conference season and the Conservative Party begin theirs tomorrow in Manchester. We didn’t see any Tories (nickname for Conservatives) though we did come across the protest camp.
Manchester city centre was crowded and I, although the one encouraging her to visit, was glad to return to the University.
I like to take time to discover though others want to ‘hit and run’. I managed to further persuade Cee to walk through the historic part of the University and here I found some calm.
In need of a cappuccino, I further persuaded Cee into the Christie building. I had noticed a sign for coffee.
As I climbed the stairwell passing the stain glass windows my daily surprise awaited me, the cafe was set in the old library.
I thought of Jay and the words came, “ Not in the busyness of Manchester, not in the lectures but in the cafe came the still, small voice.”

PS if you are wondering who Jay is read the previous few days
