What do I know about meditation?

Being still in an old Quaker meeting house

A friend contacted me to ask what tools did I use when meditating. Like, I guess many, we are looking for ways to calm ourselves when triggered by so many things, demands of other people, fears about COVID 19 and so forth.

My own path into what I think of as ‘Meditation’ was what I knew as Prayer. It was as a child I learned to close my eyes, kneel beside my bed and pray. In those moments of prayer, I was in the present although I was bringing into it my worries and concerns.

Over the years I have moved from ‘my talking’ in prayer to ‘my listening’. It is in my listening that stillness comes. I thought it best to make a 4 short videos ( of around 3 minutes) of ‘listening’ as I think it may say more than words.

1. Want to meditate? Take space.

2. A practical example of meditating, creating soul space

3. Contemplation is not strictly Meditation

4. Using a mantra in stillness

Always keen to hear what was works for you and whether any of the above helped.

Best day, g
