‘Could this be the last for a while’

I can hear a bird but little traffic. It is 06 48 am. I guess in such times we begin to listen and look out for signs. What was normal and taken for granted has become, ‘could this be the last for a while’.

I have been experiencing this, ‘could this be the last time for a while’ thinking since Friday. I picked up the next Book Group book we are reading Tracy Chevalier’s, ‘A Single Thread’ on Friday from the library and I thought, “Could this be the last book for a while. I then went to the cinema and watched, ‘Just Mercy’ and again came the thought, “Could this be the last film I see in the cinema for a while.”

Yesterday’s Napo ( trade union) branch meeting went via teleconferencing. I can tell that my defiance to changing routines is beginning to dissolve. I was ready to do as I normally do, take the bus, take the train to Huntingdon. It was decided that we should conduct our business via telephone. We did and it was a quite an enlivening experience. There was 15 of us on the line and to my vivid imagination, it was if we were having our own radio show.

Shortly I will step out of my home into the outside world with my senses alert to what is different and with the question, “Could this be the last time I do this for a while?”

Best day,

g
