Yesterday we met at Jordans Quaker centre for the day during which we considered our spiritual growth. (Note in passing : William Penn is buried here)

I am not sure whether there is a connection between introversion and spontaneity but there is within me. I don’t like too much planning as it takes up to much thinking ahead of its time. I am more likely to be spontaneous in the moment as something comes to me.

So as the question is asked what is spirituality the photograph of the flower in the headline comes to mind. A few months ago a friend randomly posted it on my facebook page. In the instant, I saw it I knew what he meant ( at least I think I do I haven’t checked out with him).

He knows I like things being in unusual places so the flowers breaking out of the concrete path fits with that. I saw it an example of connecting with my spirituality. What I mean by that is the part of us that is touched by something unexpected is I believe our spirit. Something in us responds at a deeper than usual level.

Others spoke about how a work of art, music or nature can touch them in their deepest part. For me, there are many media but it our response that tells us that a deeper life lives within us. Whatever it is that does it for you the important bit is that you have been touched.

In a Quaker meeting, I believe I am seeking to touch and be touched, in life I seek the same.
