I found myself in this last week watching films. I must have needed distracting. What did I get from three of them? Each one had a father and son story going on either as the main plot such as in ‘At Any Price’ and a subplot in ‘Disconnect’ and ‘The Angel has fallen’.

In At Any Price, the desire to bond with his son leads Henry to cover up for Dean. Did I just discover the reason for the title?

In Disconnect the ‘father and son’ I was drawn to was the one between Mike Dixon and his son Jason. Again we have another cover-up.

In Angel has Fallen it is the relationship between the son Mike Banning and his father Clay that got my attention. When the chips were down and there was nowhere to hide Mike sought out his estranged father. Somehow everything that had gone before was redeemed in Mike’s moment of need.

I am left wondering just as relationships reflect us so too what we notice in films.

Watch them and tell me what you see!
