Nothing new under the sun or is there?
We had gathered from North America, England and Germany as we have done each month since the August Summer School. Today we would look at the Book of Ecclesiastes.
Two of the group who have a passion for the book led us into it. We worked our way through selected passages like a nourishing 3-course meal. Amongst the many flavours, one lasted. It is found in chapter 12 and verse 7
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. King James Version (KJV)
In the translation we were using the Hebrew word ‘Ruach’ is translated as breath.
One of our numbers recalled how when they went to see their father before he died his breathing was impressed on them. On the birth of their child, the child’s breath was also impressed on them. They described how both at the death and the birth the same sense was present, the last breath and the first breath.
It was then said that when a child takes its first independent breath it says simultaneously the name of God (Can you hear it?).
Another spoke of how after the birth of their child they had to take time to spiritually separate from the child after being one with the child. This spoke to me of our relationship with the divine, that we are of him yet like a child we separate from him. The breath we breath is the breath of God.
If we grasped that we are the living breath of God how different would we live our lives?
