Letters to those who made my life
Sister
Dear Jacqui,
In our childhood, we were often together at Granny’s in Union Street. At other times we played street games with the other kids at Charles Park.
You were always interested in helping others, whether the elderly or mothers with young kids. I recall both of us set about cleaning a local street character’s home on an occasion. Your way of being as a child continued into your adult life with you finding caring roles.
You and your life influenced me when I decided to complete a degree in Social Work. You faced adversity from a young age in different guises. I saw your struggle, you remained standing though not without the effects of it.
My prayer for you is that each day brings you a double portion of joy as a scripture verse reads, ‘to restore the years the locusts have eaten’ (Joel 2 v 25)
