Giving hope to others gives hope to self

The rainbow in the window was the first sign that encouraged me as I walked to the Duck Pond.

Please be advised that the swan in this footage is having its breakfast and it is not a croissant

I found myself sleeping for a couple of hours probably as a result of getting up so early.

T’s mum was coming round to spend some time with her so I ‘made myself scarce’. How do you ‘make yourself scarce’ in lockdown? Well for me it was old faithful, go for a walk, a long walk.

As I walked I saw queues outside two types of shops, Pharmacies and Supermarkets. It is like we are all at school, remember, “ Single file, walk on the left, two metres apart.” Being in a supermarket feels like being in ‘The Prisoner’.

Good Afternoon and welcome to Lardy’s . Customers are reminded that due to the current crisis some goods have a limit on the number you can purchase. Please consider others in order that everyone's needs are met. Please also remember that following Government guidelines you are requested to stand two metres apart from another.

I walked to a favourite spot in St Peter’s graveyard. I noticed displayed the following,

I am impressed by how quickly communities have set up alternative ways of meeting. I like how the option of phoning in is also available recognising that not everyone has access to the internet or the most up to date browser.

As I sat and contemplated the stone sculpture above it took on a new meaning. It hadn’t changed but the world around me had and me with me. It was a reminder that God is not above us but with us, with us in every situation including the current crisis.

On my way back along the London Road, I saw the above. Isn’t it great that it is a nation's health service that people value most? It reminded me of the opening ceremony of the London Olympics when the NHS was given prominence. On Thursday night there were two of us that opened our windows in the complex I live. We had a short chat as well, that was a first.

It is sad that I find myself keen to know each day the daily death figures. In this regard, it is like living in a war. The other day it was small and I thought we were on a way out. The next day it increased significantly.

I caught this Donald Trump moment on one of the many shares that are being made as we try and keep ourselves occupied. We have to look for humour even in tragic times. If there is anything I like about this clip it is that Trump does not hide his feelings, right or wrong.

Best day,
