Consciousness as a word has been around me particularly since I first visited the Krishnamurti Centre 3 years ago.

Google AI Overview gives the following,

Non-duality is the idea that there is a single, infinite, and indivisible reality that is pure consciousness, and that all objects and selves come from this reality.

So consciousness for me means life and life means God. If I take it a step further consciousness means everything is interconnected. We are one.

Around 16 years ago I had an experience of oneness it was only later that I learned consciousness may begin to put into words that experience.

Two years ago I joined Conscious Cafe. Why call it ‘Conscious’? The conversations were not just small talk but meaningful.

Last night I joined a Zoom meeting of ‘Herts Conscious Community’

Initially, I saw a Facebook advert, looked at Adam’s vision and expressed an interest. I was surprised to see that almost 400 people had joined.

I sense that ‘Conscious Communities’ will continue to grow. They have existed for a time but perhaps now they will come to the fore. ‘Conscious communities’ are beyond any one spirituality or religion they are an expression of our oneness.

I wasn’t surprised to find people describing themselves as ‘healers’ ‘mediums’ ‘holistic practitioners’ ‘therapists’ and more. But conscious communities are not about one thing they embrace everything that recognises our oneness.

I estimated 40 people on the Zoom call. For me, several themes emerged

  1. People do not feel connected to others in a meaningful way and desire to be
  2. There is a sizeable International community in Hertfordshire who wish to be part of a local community
  3. The need to break down isolation by connecting to others
  4. Community strengthens the individual
  5. Connecting to others may reduce aggression in society
  6. Those who help others don’t always find it easy to be helped

One participant shared their story of dying yet returning to life. A very powerful story although their excitement for life turned them into the accidental chat show host.

People spoke about being with the ‘like-minded’ however I would suggest ‘open-minded’ is a better approach in the words of David Francis “We need not think alike to love alike”.

It will be interesting to see how this community emerges and whether you notice the emergence of ‘the conscious’ in your community.
