Christmas evening 2020
I was texting a friend in response to her Christmas greeting and I described my day as being like a radio host in a studio. I didn’t physically see anyone other than the three others at ‘meeting’ this morning but through technologies, I connected. Whatapps, text, phone, mobile, video conferencing social media were my forms of communications.
I found myself sitting for an hour just looking out the window. Radio 3 had a meditative soundscape which enhanced the experience.
How come I hadn’t noticed the beauty of the sun as it crossed the sky right in front of me. It was I returning to my place at the window that I noticed how the sunlit the room.
I had wondered whether the Facebook video call with friends made at University would work, it did, we covered many subjects and I felt more connected.
At 9 pm we had decided to continue the zoom Meeting for Worship and we had 21 people join us from around the UK, Ireland, North America, France and Finland.
I decided I needed to feel the air against my face so I took a walk to the postbox and deposited a card knowing it will not be picked up to Tuesday. Another form of communication.
Shortly after 10 pm, Ciara returned and we slouched on the couch and watched ‘Murder on the Orient Express’. I didn’t make it to the end as sleep enveloped me.
