I am here because it is the best place to be. I was at the dentist this morning and as I was leaving I got a call from Tee. “Charlie from downstairs is here we have a leak and it is going into his flat.”

In such moments panic is triggered. The thoughts go on their loop “How will we solve this? Will we solve this?” “I hate that Charlie downstairs is now inconvenienced” “My day is now upset”.

I drive with these feelings of anxiety but I know these feelings all too well I have to let them be and try and observe them rather than let them run the show.

I got home and saw that a leak from the tap that had been repaired two years ago had returned. I forgot to remove the container that I had placed under it. It was there because I wasn't convinced it was fixed and I then forgot about it. It was fixed but the leak has reoccurred. It could have been a good thing the container was still there but as it happens it was full and downstairs was getting the overflow.

Being the anxious type I have an insurance policy for such an eventuality. I pulled out the folder got it and phoned the number. Even then my irrational thinking is telling me I am inconveniencing the company! I remind it “This is why I pay!”

I get an automated service which works well until it tells me the earliest appointment is tomorrow. Tee doesn't know whether she will be in and I am supposed to be in South Wales meanwhile the automated service is not getting its answer so it diverts to a human. Sally gets to speak to the Service Team and they offer me an appointment between 12 noon and 6 pm. Somewhat reassured I take myself for a walk and find myself here with a cup of tea. Writing assists me process feelings. I’ll finish now and return home and no doubt write later about what happened next.
