You know when you get those moments that are neither planned nor long? I saw a few today.

Moment 1

I was dropping Cee at school as she got out of the car I noticed Issac, a boy who likes her, grinning boyishly with a snowball ready to throw it at her. He did throw it as I drove by and I smiled to myself. I could also see Cee head in her hood with a facial expression that I read as, “ How immature, but I like it.” It reminded me of my own youthful cheekiness.

Moment 2

The traffic was moving slowly alongside the common in Harpenden. I noticed a terrier rolling on its back in the snow. The dog was loving it. It reminded me that the most enjoyable moments have little if anything to do with money.

Moment 3

I was in the library at lunchtime. The fire alarm went off and then it stopped and then it went off again. The users were up from their seats down from their seats. It went off again, I could hear amongst the groans, “Ah ta Fxxx with this!” I found it reassuring that other people get annoyed as do I with inconvenience.

No one told anyone to leave. I had already packed up so I left anyway. As I was leaving the staff member who I presumed had volunteered to be Fire Warden had her clipboard in hand and was stopping anyone from entering as there was ‘A fire drill’.
