Blink Twice
What if we acted out of our forgotten trauma by ensuring our victims forgot theirs?
I indeed saw it advertised in The Odyssey and thought about watching it but it took me to go to Swansea and be charmed to watch it by Chai.
I wondered whether it was a horror or a psychological thriller.
Previously I tried to watch Magic Mike and did not know whether it was the film, Channing Tatum, or me. I watched this through and Mr Tatum excelled in his role as Slater King a disgraced former Chief Executive. The story in my head said it was due to his conduct towards women, but the film never said.
Frida (Naomi Ackie) picks up an online interview with him. She seeks to meet him working as a waitress at an event sponsored by him. Everything is fine right up to the point they meet and he invites her and her friend Jess (Alia Shawkat) to his paradise island.
They are not alone his entourage of males and females travel with them.
When they arrive they are asked for their phones but “only if they want to”. You will recognise that form of manipulation that tries to make you feel you would be silly not to comply.
From this point paradise it may be but complete with snakes.
When something seems too good begin to look out for the pre-mediated motive. When you have a former CEO and a private island you know what you get. Remember a male CEO inviting young women to his island?
There is a play on forgetting and forgiving. Do both happen or one or the other? What if we acted out of our forgotten trauma by ensuring our victims forgot theirs? Cryptic I know but tell me after watching whether you understand.
