I am sitting here in what feels like an emotional cocoon. It is usual for me to feel overwhelmed with tasks although I have felt held in the last day or two. I described it to Chai yesterday as feeling ‘Spaced out’ but not in a good or bad way. It was like I was present in the present.

Today, I worked through each task as it was prioritised in my mind. I knew I was working towards a long overdue task. I got to it and stayed with it for 3 hours. I could feel the tension in my stomach as I did but I held it — or, as I said, something held me. Maybe we were holding each other.

Thinking about it further ‘being present’ better describes what I felt rather than spaced out.

A search of the internet and I found this definition of ‘What does being present feel like’ on www.calm.com

“Being truly present feels like you’re fully immersed and engaged in the current activity. It’s when the mind isn’t pulled in many different directions, and you feel a sense of peace and contentment. Thoughts about the past or the future don’t cloud the mind, and you feel a deeper, more authentic connection to life and others.

By learning to be more present, we can experience life more fully, finding joy in the simple moments and a deeper connection to ourselves and the world around us.”
