A visit to the local Poetry group
While I may have felt lonely at points in the week, space was simultaneously being created.
I noticed the local poetry society had an event on. I mused on it, and as sometimes can happen, I found myself there.
There were two poets giving readings.
One was Shanta Acharya. She read from her most recent publication, ‘Dear Life’.
‘Dear Life’ is dedicated to her brother, who lost his life last year to cancer. She mentioned that all profits from the book would go to a cancer charity. I thought simply on that I would buy the book.
I have read one of his poems most days since Friday. I found myself thinking, “I bet that woman, one of the first to be admitted to Worcester College, an investment banker amongst other things, has not experienced loneliness.”
This morning, I opened the next poem, and it was called ‘Loneliness.’
