A ceremony for Solstice

We met last night at 9:40 pm or thereafter we acknowledged the Summer Solstice.

Chai as the priest that she is began the ritual by asking that a candle be lit.

Then we each spoke about what the solstice meant to us.

I found myself drawing on the movement of nature from one season to the next and the transitional period such as the Solstice. The liminal space where things are forming and later settle until they begin to reform again.

I desired that those things in me that have not served me nor our connectedness would wilt. In the liminal space, I would let go of all that is unhelpful and take only that which is good into the next cycle.

I saw us individually as trees yet knowing that trees are connected by their roots. I desire to be a tree that nourishes Chai and so too be nourished by her.

We wrote down our names together and then torched it with fire releasing it into the world.

We shared three qualities that are required to tender our connectedness. Empathy, love, trust, faithfulness, sensitivity and being available were among them.

We also affirmed each other with words such as

is beautiful

is love

is sensual

is resilient

is gentle

is strong

is intoxicating

Chai closed the time by banishing all fears and negativity and evoking love.
